So everyone has to keep paying forever and ever and ever and........
We're already there. Have been for years.
If all the idiot manufacturers and comsumers would stop buying everything MS shoves out the door, labeled as "new", "improved", or "more secure", this would not, and could not happen.
Right. That is why.
So it becomes - Can they?
How can they stop buying the "new" version of whatever is out there?
Aren't they, and thus pretty much everyone, caught in a cycle? The software application authors want to sell their stuff, so they write it to run on the 'newest', 'improved' system out there. Eventually, they stop supporting the older systems, because it is not worth it to do so.
Microsoft too wants to sell its operating system, so occasionally it comes out with a 'new' and 'improved' version.
And the cycle starts all over again.
The hardware manufacturers follow along. Eventually they stop making components for older computers.
What's the cure? I don't know, - if I did, I'd have more money than Gates.
I'm just making an observation of how things seem to work.
Maybe the root problem is all the so-called marketing and salespeople out there.
Ever seen anybody market something by advertising it as, "Hey, buy this. It's the same ol' stuff we've been selling for years!".
Heck, even toothpaste ads are always hyping 'new and improved!!'
