When I am on the internet and in my email, my laptop automatically refreshes itself every 15 to 30 seconds which wipes out anything I'm typing. Why would this start all of the sudden?

This should be under Tools/Options or Account settings but we can't tell since we do not know what program you are using for email...    ::)

I have windows xp and I go through hotmail for email but it happens when I'm trying to read pages on the internet as well. It just started about 2 weeks ago. I just don't know anything about these things

Interesting issue. I'm assuming it has something to do with a plug in or toolbar you have in your browser. Have you tried an alternative browser such as Firefox to see if this same issue happens?
