Rid machine of need for administrative rights
« on: February 04, 2005, 09:17:07 AM »
I have a PC running Windows 2000 Professional and I don't have administrative rights.  I would like to erase everything, install Windows XP and start over.  Can anyone tell me how to do that?

Tell us if you can't make it.

To be short: verify that your boot order in Bios lists booting from cd before booting from harddisk. If it doesn't, change to do so. Place Windows XP boot cd in cd-rom unit and reboot the computer. If you don't have important data (if you can delete without worry al the data on hard disk, if you don't want to keep informations that are stored on harddisk) then delete the partitions, create new partitions, format them (I recommend you to use NTFS file system) and follow on screen messages.
