    Dot Pitch help
    « on: April 14, 2009, 05:51:23 PM »
In CRT Monitors you see Dot Pitch around  0.25mm   or  0.35  now I was looking at a LCD Monitor that can have a High Resolutio of 1080 P but the Dot Pitch was 0.283mm H by 0.283mm V

That is a very big Dot pitch then say .25  what am I not understanding??

Smaller dot pitch is better.  its the distance between pixels.  Closer pixels result in sharper images

This is what I wanted to know?

I know Dot Pitch is the amount of space between one color in a Pixel and the same Color in another Pixel.

And it is geven in  mm  like 0.16mm  or  0.25mm  or 0.35mm  and smaller is better that meens they are closser to one another.

So when a CRT Monitor says it has a Dot Pitch of 0.35mm  and then I see  the  LCD Monitor that says it's Dot Pitch is 0.283mm  that is a very big number and space.

And this Monitor is a  1080 P  so I want to know what am I not understanding because I would think that is a very very bad Dot Pitch??????

When a CRT monitor says 0.35mm that means 0.350mm. 0.35 and 0.350 are the same thing. So 0.283mm would be about the same as 0.28mm. It's just a more accurate measurement. They take the decimal to the next number to give a more technically accurate dot pitch.  Get it?

Look at JJ 3000's photo. His beady little eyes get so close to the display that he can tell the difference.

As a side topic you might want to investigate the decimal number system a bit more thoroughly...
I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.

The difference between .283 and .25 is 0.033, or 33/1000ths of a millimeter.

Even the difference between .35 and .283 is only 0.067 or 67/1000ths of a miilimeter -- a greater difference, but still small, to be sure?

          I did get those correct, didn't I?
