Is it true?!?! *Super duper sad face*
    « on: August 07, 2009, 02:08:20 AM »
Is it true that Microsoft has STOPPED the production of ALL XP CDs!?!?!  ='[

All my friends are saying that Mic. has stopped making XP CDs and that every CD has a limit of reformatting. So if that is true, I should never reformat my computer unless I really really really really really really really really have to?

I <3 XP, don't wanna stop using it.

I'm also hearing that microsoft has greatly limited newly created disks. That's what I'm pointing out.

I think that I'm still missing what you are trying to point out.  Even with newly created disks they work on a multitude of machines, as long as the drivers are available and you have a license for it, there is no issue.

Really? I've been hearing from a lot of my friends that they got a copy of xp that could only flush it a few times (althouh I have not witnessed this personally).

I rarely ever put faith in anything I'm told.  I usually need to experience it.

there is no limit. they're probably merely trying to vocalize their very infantile understanding of activation. Poorly.

This may surprise you as well, but they don't produce windows 3.1 Disks anymore! OH NOES!

and that every CD has a limit of reformatting

The data on a factory pressed CD-ROM can not be altered (except that it can be damaged by scratching or scuffing or certain liquids) so it can never "know" how many times it has been used. Of course if a bunch of people pass around the same CD and don't handle it properly, it could eventually be so damaged that it fails to install, but that is not by design. Always keep the CD-ROM in a cool dry place, in its proper case.

unfortunately the same happy news cannot be said of windows 3.1 disks.

Also I might add that you can't buy DOS 3.2 disks anymore! what kind of world are we living in?
