    bios updated graphics card causes hardware failure

    i have a Compaq d530sff motherboard and recently updated the bios so i could enable ht after it was complete i had to reinstall windows it was fine until i installed the driver for my graphics card and then it restarted and now shows up a blue screen saying theres a hardware failure it will boot in safe mode and will also boot if i take the graphics card out it all was working perfectly before the update and the graphics card works in another computer my specs are; p4 2.8 320 sata hdd 1.5 GB ram the graphics card is a asus ah3450 512 agp running vista ultimate

    You don't normally have to reinstall Windows after a BIOS update.

      it was from the official hp site and i had to reinstall windows because i was getting the blue screen so i thought that would resolve it

      Well it didn't.
      So the obvious is to put the BIOS back the way it was!
      Doing a BIOS update has some risk of something going wrong.

          no and i dont really want to pay for a new one.  i am thinking of getting rid of the motorboard and processor and upgrading to a asrock SKT-775 4COREDUAL-SATA2 R2.0 S/L 1066FSB which is agp/pcie ddr/ddr2 and will upgrade my processor to a dual core either the dual core e2220 or the e5400

            I assume this computer also has an onboard graphics card?  It is possible that the BIOS update has altered the BIOS settings to create a conflict between the 2 graphics controllers.  Go into BIOS and turn onboard OFF (if possible).

              Vista Ultimate is 64-bit?  I don't know a lot about Vista.
              Make sure you get this driver:  ati862_Vista64.zip

              Boot back to Safe Mode and reinstall the driver.
