ADSL

Short for asymmetric digital subscriber line or asymmetric DSL, ADSL is a form of DSL (digital subscriber line) broadband. ADSL is asymmetric because of its two-way bandwidth devoted to the downstream and a small section devoted to upstream transfers. The smaller upstream resulting in a higher download transfer rate, often up to 6.1 megabits per second.
