Android Beam

Introduced with the Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) update in October 2011, Android Beam is a feature that uses NFC (near-field communication) to wirelessly transfer files between compatible Android devices. Android Beam can transfer photos, videos, and other small media files between Android smartphones and tablets within a few seconds.

How to use Android Beam

  1. Make sure both devices have NFC enabled in settings.
  2. Select the share icon Android Share icon in your preferred photo or file storage application.
  3. Select Android Beam from the list of options.
  4. Press the two devices together back-to-back.
