IP and malware cloaking

For computing, cloaking refers to the technique of hiding something or giving a false appearance. Cloaking is used to help deceive a user into doing something unsafe on the computer or that is not in their best interest.

IP cloaking

With IP cloaking a website can disguise itself as something else to a search engine, but look completely different to a normal visitor.

Malware cloaking

Cloaking is also how most malware infects a computer. For example, malware may disguise itself as an antivirus program when in reality it's a virus or scareware.
