Httperf is a tool designed to measure the performance of web servers, allowing administrators to diagnose potential problems and fix issues that adversely affect their servers' performance. Httperf can be used to help build benchmarks, both at the micro- and macro-level. It supports HTTP/1.1 and SSL protocols and is extensible to new performance measurements.
The httperf tool is designed to generate HTTP GET requests, which it then monitors the response rate to determine how many were received and the speed in which they were received. It then builds a summary of the statistics for use by server administrators and others who want to view them. Accurate results can be obtained in just one httperf process per computer.
