An omnibox is similar to the traditional web browser address bar, but you can also use it like a search engine. As seen in the picture, the omnibox in Google Chrome can also perform mathematical calculations and even answer questions such as "how many cups are in 2 liters?"
How to disable the omnibox
The omnibox is enabled by default in applications like Google Chrome. To disable the omnibox in Google Chrome, follow these steps.
- In the Google Chrome window, click the Customize and control Google Chrome button in the top-right corner and select the Settings option.
- Scroll to the bottom of the Settings page and click the Show advanced settings link.
- Scroll down to the Privacy section.
- Uncheck the box for the Use a prediction service to help complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar option.
