Omnibox

Google Chrome OmniboxAn Omnibox is similar to the traditional web browser address bar, but you can also use it like a search engine. As seen in the picture, the Omnibox in Google Chrome can also perform mathematical calculations and even answer questions such as "how many cups are in 2 liters?"

The Omnibox is enabled by default in applications like Google Chrome. To disable the Omnibox in Google Chrome, follow these steps.

  1. In the Google Chrome window, click the Customize and control Google Chrome button Google Chrome's Menu button, which resembles a vertical ellipsis in the top right corner and select the Settings option.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the Settings page and click the Show advanced settings link.
  3. Scroll down to the Privacy section.
  4. Uncheck the box for the Use a prediction service to help complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar option.
