A phoneme may refer to any of the following:

1. PhoneME is a Sun Microsystems Java ME phone implementation that helps make Java integrate with mobile phones.

2. A small unit of speech sound that affects the meaning of a word. For example, /t/ack, /l/ack, and /p/ack or /b/ook, /c/ook, and /l/ook are all examples of phoneme.
