Tamper

Updated: 06/01/2025 by Computer Hope

Tamper is any unauthorized modification of data. For example, a computer hacker may tamper with its log files to prevent anyone from knowing what information they accessed.

When something is designed to be resistant to tampering, it may be called anti-tamper, tamper-proof, or tamper-resistant.
