Uber may refer to any of the following:
1. Uber is the name of a company that was founded in March 2009 by Travis Kalanick and Garrett Camp that hires people with cars to drive other people to where they want to go much like a taxi.
The Uber service works by the rider and driver downloading an app for their smartphone. For the driver, they log into the service and let the service know they are ready to drive people. For the rider, they log into the service and indicate where they need to go. Once a request has been made Uber notifies the driver to pick up the passenger, and the rider is notified the driver is on their way. Once the ride has been completed the rider pays Uber who pays a percentage to the driver.
Uber's primary competitor is Lyft.
2. Alternatively referred to as über, uber comes from the German word "above" or "over" and is used as a way to express something that triumphs over everything else. Below is an example of how this term could be used.
I'm uber leet. That game boss was uber hard.
