Alternatively referred to as a waveform, a wave is a pattern of a signal, such as that generated by sound and light, that changes at regular intervals. Below, is an example of an oscilloscope sine wave and a description of each of the major components of a wave. As can be seen in the picture below, the wave is a line that moves up and down and in this case represents a frequency. The higher the frequency, the smaller the wavelength and the lower the frequency the greater the wavelength.
