How to clear Edge history

Most web page data is cached locally on your computer as you browse the Internet. This process helps sites load faster and reduces the amount of data transferred over your connection when you revisit them. Furthermore, this saved data can make it easier to locate a site again if you forgot to favorite it during your previous session.

To help keep your Internet activities private or free up disk space, you can delete this stored information. To learn how to clear your browsing history in Microsoft Edge, follow the steps below.

Note

If you delete browsing history from your computer, it cannot be recovered.

If you clear your Internet history often, you may want to consider browsing in incognito mode.

Clearing your browsing history in Microsoft Edge

  1. Open the Microsoft Edge browser.
  2. Click the Settings and more icon Microsoft Edge More menu in the upper-right corner of the browser window.
  3. In the drop-down menu, near the bottom, select Settings.

  1. Under the Settings section on the left, click Privacy, search, and services.

  1. Near the top of the Privacy, search, and services window, under the Clear browsing data section, click the Choose what to clear button.

  1. In the prompt, make sure the box next to Browser history is checked, then click the Clear now button.
