Deep link

A deep link is a term used to describe a link pointing to any section of a web page that is not the home page. For example, if someone linked to this definition instead of the Computer Hope main page, that would be considered a deep link.

Some companies or individuals request or prohibit a user from creating deep links to their web page because they believe a user may be confused by who is providing the information or because it cuts the amount of advertising displayed to the visitor while they are visiting a site.
