Those pics will definitely need to have their size reduced.
I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.

hey how about an unofficial Anti-Troller committee?

Feel free to form one if you feel it necessary.  I would be interested to hear how it would work.

I'm all for you guys making a welcoming committee and will deem it as 'official'. However, I'd prefer that a simple image not be posted when welcoming someone. I'd like each of the welcomes to be as personal as possible. For example, if someone tells everyone about their hobbies you ask about them or comment about them. A generic welcome message could be done by a bot. :)

As far as typhoeus creating different positions I'll let you hash out the specifics about those positions and the responsibilities with him.

Thank you Nathan.  I have been trying to give personal welcomes as well as I can.  Thank you for your suggestion.  We will try to put it into action.

Current members: Do you think the thread's name should be changed?  If so, can anyone tell me how to do that?  [EDIT] It's already been done.

          Changes:

Added 4th sentence of 1st paragraph

Added edit which says we are official!

            New idea:

Monitor the "Newest Member" section on the main board.  PM new members with links to the pages with what information to include in posts about their problems, and where they can introduce themselves.  Be upbeat.  Example:

Hey (username), welcome to the Forums!  If you want to introduce yourself, post here: http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/topic,33597.0.html.

If you have any problems, look here:
            http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/topic,33586.html.

            And here:
            http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/topic,33323.0.html

            Have fun!

Discuss problems, improvements, and opinions about this idea.  Also, how about the acronym OCHWelC?

            Keep welcoming!

            I have spotted a problem.

What if more than one user messages the new user?
Also, sometimes new users don't know what the messages thing up at the top of the page is and they might not even look at it.

Otherwise, I think this is a pretty good idea, however I think the third link to Please Read Me First is not necessary. What Info should I provide would suffice.

Thanks for responding.  Yeah, the third link is not necessary.  And while they might not check their PMs immediately, when they do, they'll know that someone cared enough to send them one.  I know I would have been happy if someone had sent me one.

As for multiple people sending messages, the more the better!  As long as they are different.  Like, I could send them a message saying where to introduce themselves, and CR could send one saying what info to post in posts about their problems.  Just an idea.  Or, if you are going to send a PM to someone, post here to say that you will handle it.  Then, the members of OCHWelC (do you have an opinion on that?) will know whether or not to PM by checking here.  How about those ideas?

              Keep welcoming!
