all games exit when i play

I recently built a computer. Its a amd fx-55 sitting on a nforce4 mother board with 2gig of kingston hyper-ex ram and a 6800 ultra.  my problem is when i play games after a bit the game shuts off...the computer doesnt shut down or anything, just the game blinks then im at windows again...i thought the culprit was over heating but i looked into it and my system doesnt get hotter than 60 degrees celcius.  then i made sure i had all drivers for everything, which i do now. and it still shuts the game down...what else can i do?  i looked at my gpu and it doesnt shut down till 135 degrees celcuis. and i have noticed that it happens alot right around 60 degrees celcius.  so could there be somthing messed up in my bios or somthing?  someone plz help!

    All games? Even Solitaire?  ???
    OS? SPs? Games?
    Get latest SPs & hotfixes, directX.
    Try the game websites for patches & fixes.
    Download & install the latest video & sound drivers.
    After that I'd be looking at hardware.

    ok high end games...world of warcraft, battlefield 2,counterstrike source,  rome total war.. i have windows xp..and have downloaded all drivers and updates for games and hardware...  surely it couldnt be hardware cause i just built it?  thnx for help

      i have an amd 64 fx-55, nvidia nforce 4 ultra-d motherboard, 2 gigs of kingston hyper-ex ram,  a 256 meg 6800 ultra, 500 watt powersupply, 200 gig serial ata hard drive,  and a cd-r/w-dvd rom.

        Reseat all the ram and cards 1st, check all cable connections.
        Remove all the ram except for 1 stick and try it.
        Then keep swapping the ram sticks out one at a time to find if one is faulty.
        Then do the same 'musical chairs game' with the ram slots by trying each slot only one at a time.

          Yes, it will/can still show your full ram.
          Take the above steps slowly, trying your games after each step, I know it's a pain but it helps to eliminate things.
          Has your computer done this from day1?

          In addition to swapping memory you can also run a software memory test to test memory. Computer Hope has some links up about testing memory on the below page.

          One other thought since it's only games that seem to be exhibiting this issue. Often it's video card related (high-end games use 3D acceleration where the OS and other low-end games don't). Update your Video drivers to the latest drivers it's also a potential issue that your video card is overheating /  encountering issues.

          could it be that you problem  is related to video codecs..... you can download them....>msoft
