Where can I get Internet access when away from my home or work?
Users who leave their home or work for a vacation or other reason may need to get Internet access while away. Today, there are different ways of getting connected to the Internet while on the road; below are a few suggestions.
If you have a smartphone with 3G, 4G, or LTE you can use your phone to connect to the Internet. Also, if you have laptop or tablet and have Mifi or a smartphone that can become its own hotspot you can use your phone as a Wi-Fi hotspot to connect other devices to the Internet.
Today, almost all libraries have one or more computers with Internet access and allow users to browse the Internet for research. Although many libraries will restrict actions such as downloading files or visiting certain sites, most of what you need to do can be done for free.
Internet or coffee shop
With the increased popularity and need of the Internet and computers, there has been an increase of Internet shops (cybercafe) dedicated to browsing the Internet and playing games. Many coffee and other shops also have Wi-Fi for browsing the Internet while eating or drinking.
Although some stores will offer this service for free to help attract users, most charge a small fee every hour for use or require you to purchase a drink or food before use.
Copy or printing stores
Printing and copying locations such as Alphagraphics, FedEx Kinko's, etc. often also offer Internet access to users for a minimal fee.
Wi-Fi has become a popular method of attracting customers and is often a free way of accessing the Internet. If you have a laptop with a wireless network card, you can connect to these hotspots located all around the world. Today, gas stations, truck stops, small shops, and even some fast food stores offer Wi-Fi access.
