A brick may refer to any of the following:
1. A brick is a term used to describe early cell phones first invented by Martin Cooper that were made available to the public in the 90's. These cell phones were called bricks because of their size, weight, and because they resembled a brick you would find in building. The picture is an example of how the brick cell phone looked. As can be seen, these phones are much larger than the cell phones used today.
2. The term brick and bricked also refers to a computer or hardware device that no longer functions because of a bad update, most commonly a firmware update. For example, if someone did the wrong firmware update or didn't let the firmware update complete properly, it would cause the device being updated to no longer function.
