Short for "Center for AI Safety," CAIS is an organization founded by Dan Hendrycks and Oliver Zhang in 2022 to inform and reduce the risks to society from AI (Artificial Intelligence). CAIS helps equip policymakers, business leaders, and the broader world with the understanding and tools necessary to manage AI risk.
On May 30, 2023, CAIS released a statement from OpenAI and DeepMind, Turing Award winners, and other AI researchers warning that their life's work on AI could potentially extinguish humanity.
