High fidelity

Often referred to hi-fi or hifi, high fidelity is a term used to describe the high-quality reproduction of sound recordings, usually music. High fidelity equipment is meant to reduce or eliminate distortion and background noise on poor quality recordings. This term is often used by audiophiles and others who enjoy listening to music at home.
