An Internet usage policy is the instructions and rules given to employees on the purposes for which they may utilize the Internet while at work. This policy may include rules on which websites you can and should not visit, and rules about e-mail, chat, social networking, and other Internet services. Before starting a new position at a job with Internet access, you may be required to sign an agreement saying you accept all the rules mentioned by the company's Internet usage policy. Disobeying any of the rules may result in your termination at the company.

Note

Internet usage policy may also be called an AUP (acceptable use policy).
