Short for tagged image file format, TIFF is a common way to store bitmap images that can be viewed and edited on both IBM compatible and Apple Macintosh computers.

A TIFF file can have a file extension of .tiff or .tif. Either file extension is acceptable, and they can be opened by most photo viewer and editor programs.
