XPS Viewer

XPS Viewer is a program included with Windows since the release of Windows XP that's found in Windows Accessories. It allows Windows users to view XPS (XML Paper Specification) files, similar to Adobe PDF (Portable Document Format) files. The file extensions supported with the most recent versions of XPS Viewer include .oxps and .xps.

How to open the XPS Viewer

To open the XPS Viewer, follow these steps:

  1. Press the Windows key or click Start.
  2. In the Start menu, type xps viewer and press Enter.

  1. Press the Windows key or click Start.
  2. Type run to open the Run window.
  3. In the Run window, type xpsrchvw.exe and press Enter.

Once XPS Viewer is open, you can open a file by clicking File and then Open or press the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+O. In the Open window, point to the location of the .oxps or .xps file you want to open.
