How to find the version of an Internet browser

Internet browsers

As with many types of software, Internet browsers are updated periodically to add features and prevent or patch security vulnerabilities. For these reasons, it is important to know the current version of the Internet browser installed on your computer. To determine the browser version you're using, select it in the list below and follow the instructions.

Google Chrome

  1. Open the Google Chrome browser.
  2. In the upper-right corner of the screen, click the Icon used to bring up the Google Chrome menu. button.
  3. In the drop-down menu, place the mouse pointer over Help.

  1. In the side menu, select About Google Chrome.

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Open the Firefox browser.
  2. In the upper-right corner of the browser window, click the Open Application Menu Firefox menu icon. icon.
  3. Select Help from the drop-down menu.

Microsoft Edge

  1. Open the Microsoft Edge browser.
  2. Click the Settings and more icon Microsoft Edge More menu in the upper-right corner of the browser window.
  3. In the drop-down menu, near the bottom, move the mouse cursor over Help and feedback, then select About Microsoft Edge from the side menu.

  1. Open the Microsoft Edge Legacy browser.
  2. In the upper-right corner of the screen, click the More icon in Microsoft Edge. button.
  3. In the drop-down menu, select Settings.
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the Settings menu to the section labeled About this app. The current version of Microsoft Edge Legacy is displayed.

Internet Explorer

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. In the upper-right corner, click the gear icon.
  3. In the menu drop-down menu, select About Internet Explorer.

Opera

  1. Open the Opera browser.
  2. Click the Opera Menu button in Opera. icon in the top-left corner of the window.
  3. In the drop-down menu, move your mouse cursor over the Help selector, and click About Opera in the side menu.

Safari

  1. Open the Safari browser.
  2. In the Apple menu bar at the top of the screen, click the Safari selector selector.
  3. Select About Safari in the drop-down menu.
