Originally founded in 1989 by Dado Banatao and Ronald Yara, S3 Graphics, Ltd. was manufacturer of computer video solutions. The company sold the Savage 3D, Trio, ViRGE, and Chrome graphics processor series.

September 24, 1999 - S3 Incorporated and Diamond Multimedia Systems announced today that the merger of the two companies was approved by both S3 and Diamond's shareholders. Under the terms of the merger, shareholders of Diamond Multimedia will receive .52 of a share of S3 stock for each share of Diamond Multimedia stock held.
