Prevent the do you want to disconnect from the Internet prompt

To disable this prompt, follow the instructions below for your operating system or Internet Explorer browser.

Windows Me users

  1. Open the Control Panel.
  2. Click the Connections tab.
  3. Double-click the Internet icon.
  4. Under Dial-up settings, click Properties.
  5. Click the Dialing tab.
  6. Ensure the option "Disconnect when connection may no longer be needed" is unchecked to disable this feature, or checked to enable it.
  7. Click OK on each open window until back in the Control Panel.

Windows 98 users or Internet Explorer 5.x

  1. Open the Control Panel.
  2. Double-click the Internet Options icon.
  3. Click the Connections tab and then the Settings button.
  4. In Settings, click the Advanced button.
  5. In Advanced, ensure the option "Disconnect when connection may no longer be needed" is unchecked to disable this feature or checked to enable it.
  6. Click OK until back in the Control Panel.
