Shift key

Deleting a full line of text can be done easier and faster than using your mouse and selecting the line of text to delete.

  1. Place the text cursor at the beginning of the line of text.
  2. On your keyboard, press and hold the left or right Shift and press End to highlight the entire line.
  3. Press Delete to delete the line of text.

Repeat these steps for each line of text you want to delete. If there are multiple lines next to each other, hold down Shift and press the down arrow to select them.

Tip

If you're at the end of a line and want to select the complete line, use the shortcut key combination Shift+Home.

Bonus tip

If there's only one line of text in the document, or you want to delete all text, press Ctrl+A to select all text. Once highlighted, press delete to delete everything.
