Carnivore is a software tool used by the FBI in the United States. It helps the FBI (in cooperation with Internet service providers) comply with court requests for the collection of certain electronic information or e-mails from a specific user. Carnivore was originally known as Omnivore and later was transitioned into Carnivore when moving from Solaris x86 operating systems to Windows NT operating systems.
