Invalid may refer to any of the following:

1. In general, invalid refers to anything that is not true or is false. For example, it would be invalid to say "1+1=3." However, it is valid to say "1+1=2."

2. When describing an error message, invalid is an error message generated by invalid data, a logical programming flaw, or an input error. For example, if a computer has a floppy disk, CD (compact disc), or hard drive in the computer that's not bootable, you will receive an invalid system disk error message when booting the computer.
