Sometimes referred to as a table of contents for a website, a site map or sitemap is a page that contains a link to all sub pages or major sections of a website. Site maps help enable the visitor or search engine the ability to get to any popular section of a website or see what the website has to offer.
Webmasters looking to generate an XML search engine site map, can find additional information about doing this through the Google Search Console. Search engine site maps help point search engines to every page you have on your website.
Should I use "site map" or "sitemap" in my writing?
Both "site map" and "sitemap" are correct but may change depending on the style guide you follow. We follow the Microsoft Manual of Style which states "site map" should be written as two words.
