Alternatively called a VideoCD or video compact disc, VCD is a concept introduced in 1993 by Philips, JVC and Sony that facilitates the storage of MPEG-1 video on a CD-ROM (compact disc read-only memory). Each VCD can hold up to 74 minutes of video on a 680 MB CD.
