Founded in 2003 by Jon Oringer, Shutterstock is a company that offers millions of stock photography, stock footage, and stock music online from over 100,000 contributors. Users can browse through their catalog of digital assets and purchase the right to use pictures, videos, or music on their website or other publications.

Shutterstock acquired Bigstock in 2009, Webdam in 2014, and Flashstock in 2017.

Warning

Shutterstock employs dark pattern tactics, including annual plans that charge you monthly regardless if you download images, auto-renews without notice, and have early cancellation fees. We highly recommend staying away from annual plans if you decide to use Shutterstock.
