Slave

1. When talking about a computer a slave is a computer or peripheral device that operates under the control of another computer peripheral.
2. A setting commonly adjusted using jumpers found on a computer peripheral, such as a hard drive as shown below. The slave setting sets the drive to be the secondary drive and allows for two devices to be connected to a single IDE/ATAPI connection.
