Classification is a term referring to separating objects or ideas into a predetermined category. For example, the classification of a computer monitor could be CRT (cathode ray tube), standard LCD (liquid-crystal display), or LED (light-emitting diode) backlit LCD. More specific classifications are often considered subclasses.
