Ctrl+6

Alternatively known as Control 6 and C-6, Ctrl+6 is a shortcut key most often used to switch to the sixth tab in a browser or another program with tab support.

How to use the Ctrl+6 shortcut key

To use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+6, press and hold either Ctrl key on the keyboard and while continuing to hold, press the "6" key with either hand.

Note

The "1" used with this shortcut is the "6" at the top of the keyboard and not on the numeric keypad.

Ctrl+6 in Microsoft Excel

In Microsoft Excel and all other spreadsheet programs, pressing Ctrl+6 hides and shows hidden objects (e.g., a picture).

Using Ctrl+6 in an Internet browser

With all major Internet browsers (e.g., Chrome, Edge, Firefox), pressing Ctrl+6 switches to the sixth tab.

Note

If you five tabs open, pressing Ctrl+6 does nothing.
