Mina Rees was born, an American mathematician, and the first female President of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Died October 25, 1997 (Age: 95).

John Pinkerton was born, a British pioneer computer designer. Died December 22, 1997 (Age: 78).

Ken Kutaragi was born, former Chairman and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment and Father of the PlayStation.
