When referring to any multi-touch (touch screen) device, a long press is where the user places their finger tip on a portion of the screen and holds it there for a few moments. Its purpose is to add the functionality of a second button where one does not exist. Microsoft Windows users could equate this action to right-clicking a desktop or laptop computer. Examples of devices that use this technology are smartphones and tablet computers.
