How to appear offline in Discord
Discord is a great place to chat with family, friends, and co-workers. However, as with any communication medium, you may sometimes want some privacy. Whether you're working on a project that requires all your attention or need time alone, the following shows you how to appear offline (invisible) on Discord.
To proceed, choose the method you access Discord from the list below and follow the instructions.
Using the Discord website
If you access Discord on a laptop or desktop computer through the website, follow these steps.
- Navigate to the Discord website.
- Click the Open Discord in your browser button.
- In the lower-left corner of the screen, click the left side of the section with your username.
- In the pop-up menu, move your mouse cursor over the upper part of the status section.
- Select Invisible in the next menu.
- You should see the status symbol next to your avatar change.
To become visible to other users once more, repeat steps one through five and select one of the other three options.
Using the Discord mobile app
If you access Discord on a mobile device through the app, follow these steps.
- On your mobile device, open the Discord app.
- In the lower-right corner of the screen, tap the user profile icon.
If you don't see the bottom icons, tap the hamburger menu or kebab menu icon at the top of the screen.
- On the next screen, tap Set Status.
- Tap the Invisible selector.
