How to use the Ctrl+Alt+- keyboard shortcut
To use this keyboard shortcut, press and hold either Ctrl and Alt key, and while continuing to hold, press the - key.
Ctrl+Alt+- in Google Sheets
Pressing Ctrl+Alt+- in a Google Sheets open the Delete menu applicable to selected cells.
Ctrl+Alt+- in Microsoft Word
Pressing Ctrl+Alt+- in a Microsoft Word creates an em dash.
Note
For this shortcut to work you must use the hyphen on the number pad. If your keyboard doesn't have a number pad see our em dash page for other methods of creating an em dash.
