Alt+H is a shortcut key most often used to open the Help file menu or the Home tab in Microsoft programs with the Ribbon.

How to use the Alt+H shortcut key

To use the keyboard shortcut Alt+H, press and hold either Alt key on the keyboard and while continuing to hold, press the "H" key with the same hand or the other hand.

Alt+H in Microsoft Excel

In Microsoft Excel, pressing Alt+H opens the Home tab in the Ribbon. Once in the Home tab after pressing the shortcut, you'll also have the option to press an additional key to select an option in the Home tab. For example, after pressing Alt+H if you press "1," would change the text font to bold.

Using Alt+H in Google Sheets

In Google Sheets, pressing Alt+H opens the Help file menu.

Alt+H in Microsoft PowerPoint

In Microsoft PowerPoint, the Alt+H shortcut key opens the Home tab in the Ribbon. Once in the Home tab after pressing the shortcut, you'll also have the option to press an additional key to select an option in the Home tab. For example, after pressing Alt+H if you press "1," would change the text font to bold.
