An online video platform or, OVP, is a digital service or application that allows users to upload, store, manage, and distribute videos on the Internet. Sometimes called video-sharing sites, OVPs are widely used by individuals, businesses, and organizations for entertainment, education, marketing, communication, and other purposes.

Online video platform features

Online video platforms use three types of models: DIY (do it yourself), UGC (user-generated content), or SaaS (Software as a Service). Usually, online video platforms allow users to like and comment on videos, and save and download content. Modern OVPs require an account (username and password) for full access and tools for video analytics and some means of monetization for creators (advertising, sponsorships, donations, etc.).
